Is a motorhome difficult to drive?
gusto! Motorhomes appreciate that it might be a little daunting when you first get behind the wheel which is why gusto! Motorhomes have highlighted the following four points to remember:
- gusto! Motorhomes will spend up to an hour with you handing over the motorhome to help make sure you feel comfortable with all the controls and happy behind the wheel
- gusto! Motorhomes are based in the countryside so you won't need to negotiate any “city traffic” straight way
- All gusto! Motorhomes’ hire vehicles have light power steering and large mirrors to help with manoeuvring
- In an RV the driving position is higher than in your car, so you can see what’s going on around you more easily; otherwise you will find the controls very similar to a car
There is no rush, take things gently and very quickly you will feel at home in your holiday motorhome.
Will my normal driving license be okay for driving a motorhome?
All drivers of our rented motorhomes must be over 25 years of age and under 70 and have held a license for at least 2 years.
Please let gusto! Motorhomes know if you have any penalty points or convictions on your license – in most cases you will still be able to hire a motorhome, but it will mean a small additional premium to the insurance.
Can I go anywhere with the motorhome?
If you are planning to go into Ireland or Europe you will need to pay an additional insurance premium. At the time of booking please let gusto! Motorhomes know if you intend to travel abroad with your RV so that all necessary insurance documents can be arranged in time for the start of your holiday.
Will the motorhome be warm enough to use in the winter?
All our motorhomes are fully “winterised” which means they have been insulated for year round use, and can even be used to head-off for skiing . Plus of course you have the warm air central heating.
How long can I hire a motorhome for?
There is no limit on how long you can hire Dolly or Babs. So if you are thinking of heading off on that tour round Europe you have been promising yourself look no further than gusto! Motorhomes.
During peak season gusto! Motorhomes have a minimum hire period of a one week rental agreement.
Where can we stay with the motorhome?
The beauty of a rented motorhome is that it is fully self contained, so you really can enjoy the benefits almost anywhere.
Please be considerate when parking the RV and remember that parking overnight at the side of the road is not permitted in most parts of Europe.
If you would like the facilities such as a children’s play area, laundry, and the opportunity to fill the fresh water tank then take the time to choose campsite before you start your break.
It’s best to book campsites in advance, particularly in high season to avoid disappointment.
What if we have a problem while we are away?
gusto! Motorhome rentals are brand new in 2009 so the likelihood of you having a problem is remote.
However, if you do have a mechanical problem you’ll be pleased to know that gusto! Motorhomes carry full breakdown cover.
Call out charges necessitated by the hirer through operator error, e.g. a flat motorhome battery will be the responsibility of the hirer.
How will I remember how everything works on the motorhome?
As well as the comprehensive handover, gusto! Motorhomes will give you a “quick guide handbook” which covers most of the main elements of the motorhome such as the heating, hot water, electricity, the cooker, etc.
